Well one of many bad decisions or just the lack of a decision by Bill Smith resulted in former Twin Nick Punto receiving a World Series berth tonight. The St. Louis Cardinals beat the Milwaukee Brewers 4 games to 2 in the NLCS earning the right to play the Texas Rangers who beat the Detroit Tigers by the same margin in the ALCS. The Rangers are playing in the series for the 2nd consecutive year and 2nd time ever.
Former Twin Nick Punto signed with the Cardinals after being ignored and disrespected by Bill Smith and the Twins this past offseason. Nobody plays the game harder than Punto or with more passion. Defensively he is as solid as they get at several positions. He will never win a batting title, but there is more to baseball than hitting a bunch of singles as proven by our new king of the boo boo here in Minny.
Punto battled injuries this year but is a great character guy to have on your team, and will be a huge asset for the Cardinals in this series.
Congrats to both the Cardinals and Rangers and espescially to former Twin Nick Punto!!
