As the Twins prepare to play Albert Pujols and the St. Louis Cardinals there was a strange sighting, Joe Mauer was reported to have caught the bullpen session for Nick Blackburn. Not as farfetched as a UFO sighting or alien abduction but a rare event nonetheless.
So far this spring Mauer has been taking it easy while rehabilitating his surgically cleaned up knee. Mauer appeared fine and stated there was never any doubt he would be ready opening day. That is music to the ears of Twins fans, this one included. A healthy Mauer, Morneau and Nathan are vital to a successful Twins run this year. With opening day about 4 weeks away it is time to start ramping things up soon.
Will be nice to start seeing rosters whittled down and the players coming north starting to play together. Ready for round 2 at Target Field!
VOYAGEUR COUNTRY-BOTTOM OF THE NINTH: Fans perspective and analysis of the Minnesota Twins as well as other favorites on occasion the Oakland A's, Tampa Bay Rays, Houston Astros, and Colorado Rockies. Occasional opinions on traditional rival Chicago White Sox, Detroit Tigers, Cleveland Indians as well as other hated teams such as the New York Yankees, Boston Red Sox, California Angels (or whatever they are named this week).
